Hey crew,
Debbe Moreau came up with an idea for a fund raiser and made a tee shirt to sell. (see attached photos) The cost is $20.00 per shirt and I’ve gotta tell you they look really nice (please excuse the bias). All shirts are made of preshrunk cotton. MENS shirts range in size from small- 5XL and the colors are Ash Grey, Sand-Lt brown, White, or Lt Blue. Ash grey is my favorite and is modelled in the picture. WOMENS Sizes range from XS-3XL they run 1 size small but have a tailored neck line and sleeves. The colors available for women are White, Lt Blue, Lt Pink, Mint Green. Women can order the men’s shirt if they like that style better and get it in the Lt Pink and Lt Blue as well.
I would like to get this email out far and wide as possible but I have only a partial list of emails. We will deliver all orders at the build in June. For those not going to the build we will send them back with your states crew or mail them if need be. Remember, need not be a crew member to buy these shirts spouses and friends may like them also.

COVID-19 PLAN
13 August 2020
Background: With the outbreak of COVID-19, it is important that we observe safety precautions for this highly
contagious virus for the health of each individual Crew volunteer, as well as, the whole Crew, for our upcoming
deployment from 16 to 30 September 2020, to build a home for the Marler Family of Whitley City, KY.
Pre-Screening of Volunteer’s Health: Before traveling to KY, each volunteer should review their health and check
with a doctor if you have any of the common coronavirus symptoms shown on Attachment (1 ). If a positive virus test
occurs, you need to be quarantined for 14 days and then receive a negative virus test before coming on this deployment.
In addition, volunteers who are 65 years or older or have any underlying conditions (such as respiratory ailments and
diabetes) should seriously consider not coming this year.
Procedures: “Healthy At Work” practices from the Kentucky website www.kycovidl9.ky.gov are highlighted on
Attachment (2). The following Crew procedures to comply with local requirements will be implemented:
Social Distancing: Efforts will be made to stay 6 feet apart whenever possible, wearing of face masks, and frequent
hand cleaning with Crew provided hand sanitizer. Note the Crew will bring a limited number of 3-ply face masks, so it is
recommended that each volunteer bring their own preferred face masks.
Daily Check for Virus Symptoms: With a fever being the most common coronavirus symptom, a digital forehead
(non-touch) thermometer will be used for taking a daily body temperature of each volunteer. If a high body temperature
of over 100.4 degrees For 38 degrees C is found, or if other symptoms of Attachment (1) are noted, the volunteer will be
referred to a local clinic (see preferred clinics on next page) for a possible coronavirus test. If tested, the volunteer will
be isolated from the rest of the Crew in the house South of St. Joseph’s Inn until the test results come back in 2 to 4 days.
If the volunteer’s test is returned positive, the volunteer will remain in isolation the remainder of the deployment or until
be or she leaves KY. The Food Crew will periodically check by phone on any isolated volunteer and provide meals.
Surface Cleaning: The Food Crew will sanitize all food serving areas daily at St. Joseph’s Inn. The Crew has hired
the St. Joseph’s Inn cleaning person to daily sanitize the sinks, toilets, showers and floors in the three (3) Inn’s
bathrooms. At the jobsite, volunteers will use their own tools, as much as possible. Common use tools and areas (such as
the portable toilets) will be sanitized daily with the Crew provided Clorox disinfected wipes. Disinfected surfaces will be
left to dry for four (4) minutes. Note the used wipes are to be disposed of in the trash and not the toilet.
Personal Items to Bring List: Attachment (3) shows this list which was modified earlier this year. As safety
precaution, St. Joseph’s Inn will no longer provide pillows with cases so each volunteer needs to bring their own pillow
with a case. As mentioned above, volunteers should bring their own preferred face masks.
Local Visiting: The visiting of local bars, restaurants and homes is discouraged for the protection of the Crew and
the local population. Note that local bars and restaurants are restricting the number of patrons.
COYID Materials: See Attachment ( 4)- for a list of virus fighting materials being brought for this year’s
deployment.
Preferred Local Clinics for Handling Possible Coronavirus Infections:
(1) Hope Primary Clinic: Phone: 606-376-9700; 8 AM to 8 PM, M-F, 8 AM to 4 PM, Sat and 1 to 4 PM, Sun;
South on Highway 27 at Stoplight 3; all coronavirus tests take 2-4 days.
(2) South Fork Medical Clinic: Phone: 606-376-7212; 8 AM to 4 PM, M-F; Across from the Christian Care Center
and North of Lumber King.
All volunteers should ensure they bring the necessary medical insurance documentation.
Summary: The above measures are intended to help safeguard our Crew volunteers from the pandemic, so we can
complete our mission of building our 36th home for needy Appalachian family. Volunteers should seriously consider not
doing any actions that might contract the virus to endanger their health or the health of the entire Crew. Your
cooperation will be $featly ap_preciated.

The Appalachian Construction Crew would like to thank all the bowlers and people that donated to the bowlers. We had a great turn out.

A record amount was raised this year. $5,185.20 This money will go to building the home for Jason and Lisa Kates family of Stearns, KY and their three children, Caleb, Jaylee and Joshua. The Kates Family is currently living in a trailer with many problems including a leaking roof and poor electrical and heating systems. Jason works in the lumber King Truss Department and Lisa is a cook for the Public Schools of Whitley City, KY. The Kates Family finds time to do a lot of service work for their community and their church. These donations will help the Crew build our 35th home.
