Subject:  Minutes of Board Meeting

1.  The Meeting was opened by President Vicki Edwards, at 7:00 PM, at 9803 S. 21st Circle, Bellevue, NE.  With 4 of 5 directors present, a quorum of the Board did exist.

2.  Attendance at the Meeting included:

3.  The minutes of the meeting held on 14 Jan 14, were approved.

4.  Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Janelle Smith provided that following status by email:  Great Western Checking Account:  $7,920.66; Fidelity Money Market:  $59, 207.72; Progress on 2015 Fundraising Goal:  9.1%

5.  Finance Director’s Report:  The Finance Director Stu Martin discussed the following:      

A.  Cans for 2 X 4’s:   Attendees brought cans.

B.  Church of Nativity, Burke, VA Designated Offering, 10-11 Jan 15:  No new developments from Bob Corsi reporting the initial offering total of $31,772.

C.  Bowl-a-thon, 1:30 PM, 7 Mar 15, Leopard Lanes:  We are still set with 13 bowlers.  The Secretary requested that the Finance Director not to make a deposit of                           pledges collected since the info is needed for thank you letters.

D.  2015 CFC Distribution will be known in Mar 15.

E. Offutt Catholic Chapel Designated Offering is set for Sun, 19 Apr 15.

      F.  Other Ideas:  None.

6.  Old Business:

A.  Update of Membership Roster:  No updates made.

B.  Combined Federal Campaign:   No new developments.

      C.  VA Connection (Bob Corsi):  Bob provided a list of 16 volunteers with 3 alternates.

      D.  Crew Website ( http://www.accrew.org ):  No new developments.

     E.  Colorado (CO) Connection (Gary Piper):  Gary identified 3 volunteers. 

     F.  Volunteer Recruitment in Bellevue:  Six Crew members volunteered to assist with the breakfast.  Await the number of volunteers from the Confirmation Class.  Ron            and the Secretary will make a Commissary run for supplies on Sat, 14 Feb 15, at 8 AM.

G. 2015 Deployment (work starts on 5 Jun 15):  The onsite crew list has 28 volunteers (25 men and 3 women).  The Construction Director has completed plans and the               subcontractor work descriptions  and is reviewing the material lists.  The Carpool Plan has 3 vehicles.  The President will begin looking at the purchase of a white                   over-the-stove microwave.

H.  2014 IRS Forms:  No new developments.

7.  New Business:

A.  Adopt-A-Road:  The pickup of trash on 25th Street was set for 9 AM, Sat, 25 Apr 15.

8.  The Crew Meeting was adjourned at 7:26 PM.  With the Secretary out-of-town in Mar 15, the next  meeting was set for 7 PM, Tues, 14 Apr 15, at 9803 S. 21st Circle.

3.  The minutes of the meeting held on 10 Dec 14, were approved.

4.  Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Janelle Smith provided that following status:  Great Western Checking Account:  $7,499.76; Fidelity Money Market:  $59, 207.22; Progress on 2015 Fundraising Goal:  8.3%

5.  Finance Director’s Report:  The Finance Director Stu Martin discussed the following:

A.  Cans for 2 X 4’s:   No new developments.

B.  Church of Nativity, Burke, VA Designated Offering, 10-11 Jan 15:  Bob Corsi, our VA POC, reported an initial offering total of $31,772.

D.  Bowl-a-thon, 1:30 PM, 7 Mar 15, Leopard Lanes:  Currently we have 13 bowlers signed up.  Pledge sheets were passed out to the bowlers.  Since the Secretary will be out-of-town, Stu will act as Coordinator for this event.

      E.  2015 CFC Distribution will be known in Mar 15.

      F. Offutt Catholic Chapel Designated Offering is set for Sun, 19 Apr 15. 

      G.  Other Ideas:  None.

6.  Old Business:

A.  Update of Membership Roster:  Updated the mailing address of Corey Cinabro.

      B.  Combined Federal Campaign:   Received the 2015 application which is due on 1 Apr 15.

      C.  VA Connection (Bob Corsi):  No new developments.

      D.  Crew Website ( http://www.accrew.org ):  Webmaster Kathi Narlock completed the annual website renewal.

      E.  Colorado (CO) Connection (Gary Piper):  No new developments. 

      F.  Volunteer Recruitment in Bellevue:  Ron Strawn bought 15 lbs of bacon at Commissary and was reimbursed $37.01, by the Treasurer.  The Secretary emailed Confirmation Teacher Barbara Laporte who has mentioned this upcoming event to her students.  Six Crew members volunteered to assist with the breakfast.  Ron and the Secretary will make a Commissary run on Sat, 14 Feb 15, for supplies.

G. 2015 Deployment (work starts on 5 Jun 15):  The Corder Family approved the floor plan.

I.  Update of Annual Letter to Donors:  A total of 75 copies were  printed at UPS, at cost of $18.59.

7.  New Business:

A.  2014 IRS Forms:  The Secretary provided the following forms to the Treasurer:  (1)  Major Contributors List;

(2)  IRS Form 990 for the CFC application which is due on 1 Apr 15; (3)  IRS Form 990-EZ which is due to the IRS by 15 May 15.

      B.  Nonprofit Corporation Biennial Report:  The Secretary submitted this required report to the NE Secretary of State on 6 Jan 15, with a $23 fee.  This report includes the names and addresses of the Board members.

3.  The minutes of the meeting held on 12 Nov 14, were approved.

4.  Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Janelle Smith provided that following status before the meeting:  Great Western Checking Account:  $7,602.98; Fidelity Money Market:  $59, 206.51; Progress on 2015 Fundraising Goal:  8.8%

5.  Finance Director’s Report:  The Finance Director Stu Martin discussed the following:

A.  Cans for 2 X 4’s:   Stu left off some cans.

B.  Dinner and a Movie Raffle, Oct-Nov 14:   A total of  212 tickets ($1,060) were sold which makes the net revenue $820.04 (=$1,060 – 239.96).  The drawing at 6 PM, Wed, 19 Dec 14, at Old Chicago in Papillion Shadow Lake had the following winners:  1st:   $100/$50 Vicki Edwards;   2nd:  $75/$25 Joann Klug; 3rd:  $25/$25 Debbe Moreau.  Some lessons learned:  (1)  Certificates should be good national so out-of-town sales will be possible.  (2)  A new search for a restaurant that will provide free certificates will be undertaking.

C.  Church of Nativity, Burke, VA Designated Offering:  The weekend of 10-11 Jan 15 was confirmed for this offering by Bob Corsi, our VA POC.

D.  Bowl-a-thon:  Sharon Strawn called before the meeting and indicated that lanes at Leopard Lanes have been reserved for 1:30 PM, Sat, 7 Mar 15.

E.  2015 CFC Distribution will be known in Mar 15.

F. Offutt Catholic Chapel Designated Offering is set for Sun, 19 Apr 15.

G.  Other Ideas:  By logging on to Welzoo.com, a 3 cent donation is realized each time.  When a total of $20 is accumulated, a donation would be sent to the Crew.  Currently, only the President and the Webmaster are logging into Welzoo and over $7.00 has been raised so far.  The President encouraged others to use the Welzoo log in process.

6.  Old Business:

A.  Update of Membership Roster:  Corrected Finance Director‘s phone number.

B.  Combined Federal Campaign:   No new developments.

C.  VA Connection (Bob Corsi):  The Good Shepherd Chapel Treasurer Kay Morrow and Secretary assisted Bob in getting mailing addresses for the last 15 homeowners so gift certificates could be sent by the Burke, VA Church of the Nativity.

D.  Crew Website (http://www.accrew.org):  The Dinner and a Movie raffle winners were included on the website.

E.  Colorado (CO) Connection (Gary Piper):  No new developments.

F.  Volunteer Recruitment in Bellevue:  The Pancake Breakfast is set for Sun, 15 Feb 15, in the Capehart Chapel Annex with the Confirmation students.   We need to discuss the needed volunteers and logistics of this event further at the next meeting.

G. 2015 Deployment (work starts on 5 Jun 15):  The Construction Director mailed the proposed Corder Family floor plan on 2 Dec 14, for review and approval.  Still looking for replacements on the 2015 volunteer list for Mark and Ben White.  Harry Wallace, the Good Shepherd Chapel P.O.C., reports that the existing 5-year old septic tank system at the Corder site can be reused for the new home.  The current Corder appliances over 20 years old; therefore, the Construction Director is anticipating that the Crew will need to purchase a complete line of appliances including the washer and dryer, stove and refrigerator from Lowe’s Somerset, as well as, bringing down an over-the-stove microwave from NE.

H.  Columbia (K of C) Magazine Article of Nov 14:  A copy of the article was made available for review of those present.

I.  Update of Annual Letter to Donors:  The Secretary will provided a draft of the letter which was reviewed.  A total of 75 copies will be printed at UPS.

3.  The minutes of the meeting held on 8 Oct 14, were approved.

4.  Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Janelle Smith was not present to provide a report

5.  Finance Director’s Report:  The Finance Director Stu Martin discussed the following:

A.  Cans for 2 X 4’s:   Secretary’s turn-in on 21 Oct 14:  36 lb X $0.40/lb = $14.40

B.  Dinner and a Movie Raffle, Oct-Nov 14:   To date, 179 tickets ($895) have been reported sold.  The President turned in 48 ticket stubs and $240.00 and Finance Director turned in 24 ticket stubs and $120.00 to the Secretary.  The Secretary”s 4-hour selling time at Harlan No Frills netted 7 tickets sold and $256.92 in public donations.  The Secretary will send out an email to the other ticket sellers reminding them that all ticket stubs and money are needed by the drawing time set for 6 PM, Wed, 19 Dec 14, at Old Chicago in Papillion Shadow Lake.  Stu will reserve a table for 12 Crew volunteers at Old Chicago.

C.  Church of Nativity, Burke, VA Designated Offering:  The weekend of 10-11 Jan 15 was confirmed for this offering by Bob Corsi, our VA POC.

E.  2015 CFC Distribution will be known in Mar 15.

F. Offutt Catholic Chapel Designated Offering is set for Sun, 19 Apr 15.  Mgsr Mark Rowan‘s new policy is that the local organizations receiving a designated offering will accept the check in front of the Catholic congregation.

G.  Other Ideas:  The President’s idea to use Welzoo.com which was not be discussed at the meeting.

H.  Stu reported 7% progress on the 2015 Fundraising Goal of $50,000.

B.  Combined Federal Campaign:   The Secretary reported that the 3rd automatic deposit of $767.16 for the 2014 Distribution was received on 22 0ct 14.

G. 2015 Deployment (work starts on 5 Jun 15):  The Good Shepherd Chapel has selected the Scotty and Tabitha Corder Family of 435 Woods Road, Stearns, KY, as our 2015 Family.  The family has two sons, Harley, 17 and Dustin, 4.  Scotty works only part time as janitor at the Outdoor Venture Corporation (tent factory) due to a neck injury from a car accident.  Three members of Good Shepherd Chapel Parish Council sent a letter endorsing the Corder Family.  The Construction Director reminded those present of the Dec 14 deadline for replacing Mark and Ben White on the 2015 deployment with NE volunteers.

7.  New Business:

A.  Offutt AFB Insurance Waiver:  The President previously reported that the Crew’s waiver of liability insurance for activities on Offutt AFB has been approved.

B.  Knights of Columbus Magazine article on the 2014 deployment has been published.  A CA couple, who saw the article, donated $1,000 to the Crew.

C.  Update of Annual Letter to Donors:  The Secretary will provide a draft of the letter at the next meeting.

3.  The minutes of the meeting held on 10 Sep 14, were approved.

4.  Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Janelle Smith provided the following status, as of 30 Sep 14:  Great Western Checking:  $4,740.94; Fidelity Money Market:  $59,205.56; Progress on 2015 $50,000 Fundraising Goal:  4.3%

5.  Finance Director’s Report:  The Secretary discussed the following:           

A.  Cans for 2 X 4’s:   No new developments.

B.  CFC/United Way:  The 2014 CFC Distribution will be $3,251.00.

C.  Dinner and a Movie Raffle, Oct-Nov 14 :  Dinner (Old Chicago) and Movie (AKSARBEN Cinema) certificates with a total value of $300 were purchased by the Finance Director for $239.96 and Treasurer wrote a check to reimburse him.  Prizes were set for the Dinner/Movie at:  1st:  $100/$50; 2nd:  $75/$25 and 3rd:  $25/$25.  Raffle tickets (200 of 312 printed) were distributed.  The Secretary will be selling tickets at the Harlan No Frills from 10 AM to 2 PM, Sat, 8 Nov 14.  The Secretary submitted an article for the Bellevue Leader on 25 Sep 14, which appeared in the 8 Oct edition.  The drawing was set for 6 PM, Wed, 19 Nov 14, at the Old Chicago in Papillion.

D.  Church of Nativity, Burke, VA Designated Offering:  10-11 Jan 15 (tentative)

E.  Bowl-a-thon:  Mar 15

F. Offutt Catholic Chapel Designated Offering:  Per the Catholic Pastoral Assistant Peggy Hoffman and the Chapel Accountant Mary Burden, the offering is set for Sun, 19 Apr 15.

G.  Other Ideas:  The Secretary received a letter from the AmazonSmile Foundation indicating that one or more Amazon customers have designated the Crew as a charity that Amazon will donate 0.5% of their purchases.  Unfortunately, this Foundation want us to put our bank account info on an online website which the Secretary and the Finance Director are not willing to do.  The President brought up the use of Welzoo.com which will be discussed at the next meeting, when the Finance Director is present.

B.  Combined Federal Campaign:   The Secretary has received CFC Memorandum 2014-03 Universal Giving which allows any donor to donate to a charity, without regard to the geographic area.

E.  Colorado (CO) Connection (Gary Piper):  No new developments.

The Good Shepard Chapel has selected the Scotty and Tabetha Corder Family of Sterns Kentucky as our  Family. The family has two sons, Harley, 17 and Dustin,4. Scotty works only part time as a janitor at the Outdoor Venture Corporation (tent factory) due to a neck injury from a care accident. Three members of the Good Shepard Chapel Parrish Council sent a letter endorsing the Corder Family.

Update: the Family was living in a 24 year old trailer. Scotty and Tabitha adopt and foster children. The existing trailer was moved from the site and the family moved to an apartment as the site was readied for construction. The ACC descended on the site Friday 5 June 15.  27 members worked hard to make this site a wonderful home for the Corder family. Most of the crew left St Joseph’s Inn on 10 June 15. The finishing crew stayed for another week to finish the interior. See the photo’s posted to see the progress that was made along the way. The Family moved in on 19 June 15. The Appalachian Construction Crew kicked off its annual raffle with a bit of a change.

This year with a $5 donation, you had a chance to win gift certificates for dinner at Old Chicago and a movie at AKSARBEN Cinema.
